REDD: Demonstration Activity
Gekko: The Kalimantan Forest Climate Partnership (KFCP) is a REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation) demonstration activity taking place in the Kapuas District in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. This project is being conducted together by the Australian Government and the Indonesian Government, which has selected an ex-peatland development site as the site of the demonstration activity.
The recognition of ancestral territories is still a major problem for indigenous peoples in the area. This is in spite of the fact that the REDD demonstration activity is taking place on the Dayak Ngaju indigenous people’s territory. Read more >>
Kalimantan’s Craft; Harmony of Culture and Nature
Gekko: Craft Kalimantan a film of indigenous weaving traditions with high quality art products. The products are the work of artisan groups, 90% of them being women, who live in and around forests, and those that continue to struggle in defense of their culture and tradition through the art of weaving crafts.
